Universal 5424 , Kubota D1101 / L245 Marine Diesel Engine / Motor. Universal marine diesel engine model 5434. 24 HP. Got in trade and was told it was a running take out that leaked oil… probably at the rear seal which looks to be an $8 seal..m Universal-Westerbeke part #298689. Turns over but best to rebuild while it’s out or use for parts. Currently drained of oil. Currently has a stock 51 amp Motorola alternator and Hurth HBW-10 transmission the later seems to shift and hold fine… but no guarantees. Given the remoteness of boating you should probably plan on rebuilding that too. Includes a Catalina Yachts engine panel and the stock air filter (not shown in photos). Can pack and ship at the buyers expense, or the engine is available for pickup in West Dennis, Massachusetts. ****To save weight / shipping expense… willing to hold back the Hurth tranny and bell housing. Engine is very flat on the bottom and as you see in the photo the rear mounting brackets are part of the block not the bellhousing… so this should transport easily to you. *** This was a very popular motor back in the day and a real work horse. For example It was OEM equipment for almost all Catalina 38’s so if the biggest boat volume builder in North America could depend on it for Congressional Cup boats that should really say a lot. Unpalleted engine weight is 430Lbs. and with the Hurth L= 33″ W= 21″ H, 25″ approximately.
