The Marine Division of TRB Lightweight Structures was established as Technical Resin Bonders in the early 1950’s and was one of the first companies to introduce Lightweight Honeycomb Sandwich Panels into the Marine Industry. Today TRB Lightweight Structures provide a range of bespoke boatbuilding products and panels based on High Performance Sandwich Panel Technology and Boat Composite Components.

Lightweight structure design and manufacturing.

TRB Lightweight Structure’s expertise is in its ability to work closely with customers in order to design, develop and manufacture bespoke products to suit a wide range of individual applications. A team of experienced Designers and Engineers using SolidWorks™ 3D modelling software and FEA expertise provide the ability to undertake the most challenging design and composite manufacturing assignment. Product examples include yacht internal superstructure, cabinet doors, cabin worktop surfaces, cabin furniture, yacht decks, bulkheads and partitions.

Honeycomb sandwich Standard Panels

– Cellite 220 and 620 Honeycomb Sandwich Panels

To meet the marine industry’s requirements for a standard product that fulfils a variety of applications, TRB Lightweight Structures offer a range of panels that are well proven and comply with various qualifications.

Cellite 220 Aluminium Faced Honeycomb Sandwich Panels incorporate a non-combustible aluminium honeycomb core, (compliant with IMO RES A 472 (XII)) which is bonded with high strength structural epoxy film adhesive to facing skins of aluminium alloy 5251 H22/24. The Cellite 220 Panel is classified to IMO Resolution A653 (16) amendment resolution 61 (67) and IMO Resolution MSC 61 (67) 1996. Copies of Warrington Fire Research Centre test reports 72119 and 72120 are available upon request.

Cellite 220 panels can be manufactured to meet individual requirements and are also available in three different thicknesses and a standard size of 2500mm x 1250mm. They are lightweight and versatile and can be used for a wide range of applications.

Cellite 620 Fibre Faced Honeycomb Sandwich Panels incorporate the same aluminium honeycomb core but have facing skins of woven glass fibre material impregnated with an epoxy resin system. The resin, as well as reinforcing the fibre, provides the bond to the core eliminating the need for a separate adhesive layer.

Cellite 620 panels can be manufactured to meet individual requirements and are also available in three different thicknesses and a standard size of 2440mm x 1220mm.
