Why Choose Teak?
Providing outstanding Beauty,
Strength & Durability, Teak is the perfect choice of
timber for all types of yacht & boat building. Teak has
been the preferred timber for Decks, Rubbing Strakes,
Gunwales, Cabins and Internal Joinery such as wash boards
trims and furniture for nearly 150 years.
Durability
Teak can claim "Durability Class
1", the highest possible. It is extremely resistant to
marine borers and is impervious to sea water. A deck laid in
Teak is guaranteed to out last any other comparable species
available.
Colour & Texture
Teak is generally straight
grained of medium texture and appears golden brown when
first cut darkening with exposure to light & age.
The Origin of Teak
Genuine Teak comes mainly from
Myanmar (formerly Burma) with limited volumes supplied from
Java and Thailand. In more recent times fast grown
plantation Teak has been available from places such as
Nigeria but the quality is poor and unsuitable for marine
applications.
Classic Decking
There is nothing better than the
look of Classic Teak decking
Why Quarter Sawn?

have almost disappeared and with it, the skill to produce
stable boards for decking.
Teak Pellets

available in 3/8" & 1/2" diameter Tapered pellets provide a
good colour match and are very easy to fit.
Teak Faced Plywood
Teak plywoods are sometimes
offered in Marine grades, Boat building exterior boards
Teak Veneers
Decorative and constructional
veneers for cold moulding.
Deck Caulking
Purflex is the preferred
caulking for the professionals
Environmental
Wood is the most environmentally
friendly and durable asset that we have, provided it is
handled in the right way. Well managed forests will provide
timber in the future and Teak from Myanmar (formerly Burma)
has been managed on a strictly sustained yield thanks to the
original efforts of a German, Dietrich Brandis, who arrived
in the country in 1856. His detailed research provide the
government of the day with invaluable information regarding
the potential of well maintained forestry practices which
are still applied today ensuring future economic stability
and continued supply.
Affordable Teak
Teak is without doubt the most
desirable timber for boat construction and is surprisingly
good value for money. With guaranteed durability and a
pleasing appearance it is the natural choice.
