A successful design and boatbuilding business called The Multihull Centre since Pip and Debbie joined the business in 1985. Since then the business has continued to go from strength to strength.

Debbie has developed the brokerage business to the extent that the Multihull Centre is now one of the Europe's top Multihull Brokers, as many satisfied customers will testify. Under Pip's management the boatyard has grown to become the U.K.'s largest dedicated multihull boatyard.

Together, they have expanded the boatbuilding business, which now offers the best of all British catamaran designs. These include the Woods Designs Elf 26, 30ft Series and Eclipse 9.9m as well as the Patterson designed Twins range of Power and Sailing catamarans.

Woods Designs at the same address (woodsdesigns@tiscali.co.uk) has successfully designed catamarans that combine cruising catamarans and racing catamarans without compromising either. They are also pioneers of the micromultihull movement and probably the most experienced designers in their class having won the British and European Micromultihull Championships.

Richard and Lillian Woods also sailed singlehanded to Estonia in their 24ft Strider Club design and were the Class Winners in the AZAB in their Banshee catamaran.

All the boats are built using high quality materials producing light, strong craft. They are built by craftsmen who are also sailors and who apply their knowledge and expertise to the boats they are building.

Because the boats are built using the best materials and in a controlled environment the Multihull Centre know they have produced an excellent vessel. Catamarans have been built at the site since 1968 and since building of the modern designs commenced in 1986 there has not been one case of osmosis.

The Centre supply plans for home-build catamarans as well.

Sail charter has become a very popular way of enjoying the sailing experience aboard a catamaran and many sailors and non-sailors find it an excellent way of spending time aboard without the cost of full ownership.

Holidays aboard some of the finest sailing catamarans in the world can be a sailing vacation entirely tailored to your requirements.

CATAMARAN EXPERIENCE

If you cannot spend the time on a full charter programme but want to get a feel for catamaran sailing then a CATAMARAN EXPERIENCE might be a suitable alternative.

The Catamaran Experience is a two day trip on a Broadblue 385 within the Solent & Poole sailing areas.

Our professional skipper will be available to you throughout to demonstrate the various aptitudes of a catamaran and any differences between the handling of a multihull versus a monohull – twin engine control, mooring, sailing, anchoring etc. etc.

The main purpose of the Catamaran Experience is to give an appreciation of the handling of a modern medium size catamaran.

This can be a very useful exercise to those who are knew to catamaran sailing and have either just purchased or who are thinking about buying one.
