FACTS about......BREATHABILITY

If a fabric "breathes" it is usually less water resistant that a fabric that does not "breathe". However if water does penetrate a breathable fabric, it will dry more quickly as air is allowed to circulate. This will help prevent condensation and consequent mould growth. On a totally non-breathable fabric such as PVC, condensation can be a major problem if proper ventilation is not built in. However, this type of fabric can be used effectively to keep things dry as it is completely waterproof (the only possibility of leakage is via seams).

MARINE UPHOLSTERY VINYLS

Nautolex - The Finest in Marine Vinyls

Nautolex with PreFixx: Care and Cleaning

With the factory-applied PreFixx protective finish, it is possible to easily remove more stains than ever before. However, some stains can become permanent if not removed quickly. We recommend cleaning as soon as possible after a stain is discovered.

Each week, wipe PreFixx protected Nautolex surfaces with a Soft damp cloth and towel dry. In very rainy weather, cover or remove cushions since seams can-trap and absorb moisture. Cushions should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Special Cleaning Instructions

Because these vinyls are protected with PreFixx, many stains that would permanently mark other marine vinyls can be removed by following a three-step process (refer to cleaning chart below):

Begin by using a mild soap and water solution and, if necessary, a soft-bristle brush.

Any stains still remaining should be immediately cleaned with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

If a residual stain remains after Step 2, use fingernail polish remover containing acetone. If the stain has not become permanent, it should be removed after rubbing the spot 5 or 6 times. Do not continue beyond 6 rubs, because rubbing could possibly damage the finish.

After using mild soap, alcohol or fingernail polish remover, rinse off any remaining residue with a damp cloth and towel dry.
