Garmin Gps navigation equipment
I am a commercial fisherman who relies on both exact and dependability in a Gps navigation aid.
Garmin Gps is very dependable. I use another brand on my boat while working and i have the Garmin GP72 beside it and have found it to be a better unit allround. So… i hear you all say, well this is why i mentioned my other unit, the other one costs nearly £700 and is a fixed unit, with a smaller display.
My gp 72 cost me £130 and is handheld and portable, also with the correct lead available from Garmin you can download and update data from your computer or laptop.
I use mine for work when I am called out for the HM Coastguard Cliff Rescue Team and I find it is very accurate and dependable.
It has a clear display excellent features easy to use menus and functions, setup is easy as all you have to do is turn it on and follow the on screen instructions.
It has M.O.B. function (Man Overboard )…you can hold the button to activate the function and it will remember the Latitude and Longitude position that the event happened at.
It also lists all the main citys worlwide and can be totally tailored to your needs, ie land use, marine use, Latitude & Longitude (Marine). Grid Reference (Ordnance Survey Maps Land ).
Garmin GPS equipment is waterproof and lightweight (even with batteries fitted) It is easy to read and use.
On a cheap set of batteries it lasts approx 4-5 hours on the good batteries it will last me approx a couple of days.
